How Do You Create a Positive First Impression?

Did you know you could use Gemini to practice salary negotiation in advance of an offer? It’s fabulous! Now, you have to use the Gemini app, so download that to your phone. Once you have it installed, in the lower right-hand corner, you’ll see a soundwave. The prompt, after you click the soundwave, is designed to—well, you can just ask it very simply to act as a hiring manager who’s extended an offer for $10,000 less (or whatever the amount is) than what you’re really looking for and that you want to accept; however, they have to increase the offer. Whatever scenario you want to use, offer that scenario to the AI, and it will give you a back-and-forth that will, frankly, help you get ready to negotiate.

What I did is indicate to Gemini that they were undervaluing me by about $15,000 and that I was looking for at least $10,000 more. I mentioned that I didn’t have a lot of time, and it indicated back to me that it would be back in 24 hours after speaking with the team. We went back and forth a few times, and that would just give me a sense of what it’s like to have this kind of a negotiation so I could get any butterflies out that I might feel. I think that would help a lot of you as well. So again, with Gemini in the app—not online on a laptop, but using the app—in the lower right-hand corner is the soundwave. Press that.
